Don’t just take books on holiday—take a holiday that’s all about books.
The Reading Weekend is a unique and stylish sojourn for the mind and body. You’ll be staying with like-minded lovelies in deepest Sussex in the classy-but-comfy Tilton House. Ghosts dance in from neighbouring Charleston, country home of the Bloomsbury Group. We’ve added more Reading Weekends at the luxurious Turnberry Resort in Scotland and also in the Caribbean.
The Tilton weekend includes bibliotherapy from a School of Life expert, bedtime stories, a literary salon supper with one (or more) of Britain’s best writers and a Woolf Walk (that doesn’t end in suicide).
And seriously competitive Scrabble.
At the first event Naomi Alderman debuted her stunning novel ‘The Lessons’—six months before publication. Sathnam Sanghera shared the moving story behind his award-winning memoir ‘The Boy With The Top-Knot’. We’ve also been joined by David Nicholls, discussing his bestseller ‘One Day’. Other guests include Diana Athill, Natasha Solomons and Geoff Dyer. Most guest authors also play a pretty mean game of Scrabble.
Your host is Damian Barr—Times journalist, Radio 4 playwright and Salonierre for the Shoreditch House
Literary Salon.
You can do as much or as little as you like. It’s your weekend.
