Don’t just take books on holiday—take a holiday that’s all about books.
The Reading Weekend is a unique and stylish sojourn for the mind and body. You’ll be staying with like-minded lovelies in deepest Sussex in the classy-but-comfy Tilton House. Ghosts dance in from neighbouring Charleston, country home of the Bloomsbury Group. We’ve added more Reading Weekends at the luxurious Turnberry Resort in Scotland and also in the Caribbean.
The Tilton weekend includes a 1-2-1 session with School of Life bibliotherapist Ella Berthoud (coauthor of The Novel Cure), bedtime stories and a literary salon supper with one of Britain’s best writers. Rain or shine we take a group to the walk up the Beacon before lunch on Sunday–following in the footsteps of Woolf (but with a happier ending).
And there’s seriously competitive Scrabble.
Guest authors so far include: David Nicholls, Naomi Alderman, Sathnam Sanghera, Diana Athill, Jojo Moyes, Geoff Dyer and SJ Watson. It’s your chance to spend quality time with the writers you love in a place you’re sure to fall in love with. They usually win at Scrabble.
Your host is Damian Barr—journalist, Radio 4 playwright, salonnière and author of the best-selling memoir Maggie & Me’ which you can see here.
You can do as much or as little as you like. It’s your weekend.
